Seminar "Review of Higher Education Institutions: lessons from the past and solutions for the future"
Renginio pradžia: 2025-06-05
On 5 June 2025, the seminar "Assessment of Higher Education Institutions: lessons from the past and solutions for the future" organised by the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education will take place in Vilnius.
The seminar will reflect on the experience of institutional review of higher education institutions and explore together how lessons learned can provide a solid basis for the development of a new model of quality assurance.
The Centre for Quality Assessment of Higher Education organised the second cycle of HEI reviews between 2020 and 2024, during which 35 HEIs were evaluated. The review had several objectives: to determine the quality of HEIs' performance, to create the conditions for improvement, to promote a culture of quality, and to inform the public.
The overview of the cycle's results highlights the overall strengths of the higher education system and areas for improvement. The lessons learned from the review, the experience of the participants and the reflections of the experts are the main prerequisites for the design of the future external quality assurance system for higher education. This allows for the development of a new model which is fit for purpose and
adequately responds to the needs of both individual HEIs and the system in general. During the event, insights from the analysis of the institutional review cycle will be shared, and a new model for external quality assurance will be presented. Participants will discuss the institutional reviews that have taken place and share expectations for the future design of the new model.
Higher education representatives, students, policy makers and all members of the community with an interest in higher education quality will attend the meeting.
