DIGI-REQA project report on the links between academic recognition and quality assurance published
A report developed within the Erasmus+DIGI-REQAproject (Digital Tools and Quality Assurance for Automatic Recognition),“The state of play of Quality Assurance coverage on (Automatic) Recognition: findings from the DIGI-REQA project”, has been published. The report explores the links between academic and automatic recognition and internal and external quality assurance.
To provide a comprehensive understanding of the interaction between these areas, the research covered 62 external review reports of quality assurance agencies, the methodologies of 5 agencies, 448 institutional review reports produced by 24 quality assurance agencies, and recognition-related practices of 21 higher education institutions.
Key findings of the report:
- stronger links between quality assurance and academic recognition can contribute to more consistent and transparent recognition processes;
- recognition should be systematically integrated into internal quality assurance processes in higher education institutions, in line with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and the principles of the Lisbon Recognition Convention;
- closer cooperation between higher education institutions, quality assurance agencies and ENIC/NARIC centres is important.
