Quality assurance processes and future external evaluation discussed with Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija

On 16 October 2026, following the completion of the institutional evaluation process at Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija (Lithuania Engineering College, LIK), representatives of SKVC met with members of the institution’s administration.

The meeting focused on the organisation and outcomes of the institutional evaluation process, follow-up activities undertaken after the evaluation, progress in implementing the recommendations, and expectations regarding the forthcoming external evaluation, as well as the broader quality assurance system and the role of SKVC. Participants also exchanged views on the future development of the quality assurance system, including the implementation of micro-credentials in higher education and identified areas requiring further attention.

Representatives of LIK noted that both the institutional evaluation and the subsequent follow-up activities had been conducted smoothly and efficiently. They emphasised that the evaluation had been beneficial for the institution, particularly the follow-up phase, as discussions with the expert panel provided an opportunity to validate the relevance and direction of ongoing improvement initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Aurelija Valeikienė, Deputy Director and Acting Director of SKVC; Kristina Sutkutė, Head of the Institutional Review Division at SKVC; Dr. Lina Girdauskienė, Director of LIK; Mr Nerijus Varnas, Chief Administrative Officer at LIK; Dr. Simona Pilkienė, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at LIK; and Ms Mykolė Lukošienė, Head of the Strategy and Quality Management Centre at LIK.

Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija (LIK) was established in 2024 through the merger of Kauno technikos kolegija (KTK) and Kauno miškų ir aplinkos inžinerijos kolegija (KMAIK). In 2022, institutional evaluations were conducted separately for these predecessor institutions. Following their reorganisation and the establishment of LIK, a remote meeting between international experts and representatives of LIK was held in March this year as part of the post-evaluation follow-up process. During the meeting, experts assessed how LIK had implemented the recommendations provided by both expert panels and reviewed the progress achieved in ensuring study quality and institutional development.
